Jerry A. Coverstone

JERRY A. COVERSTONE, 81, of Sidney passed away at 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Wilson Health.  He was born on August 4, 1937 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Elza and Margaret (Stagg) Coverstone. 
On May 25, 1957 he married the former Doris Nolte, who survives along with two daughters, Jennifer Coverstone, and Lisa (Jon) Geuy, both of Sidney; four grandchildren, Kayla, Alex and Nick Climer, and Katelyn Geuy; and sister, Janice (Edward, Jr.) Sparks of Sidney.  He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph and Lawrence Coverstone, and Rual and Ray Thompson; and two sisters, Pauline May and Mildred Wells. 

Jerry was retired from the Dayton Daily News where he served as the District Supervisor of Circulation until 1992.  He also worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance for many years.  He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Sidney, past elder, past treasurer, superintendent of Sunday school, and past president of the church council for St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Sidney.  He was also a book author, and a member of Sidney Senior Swingers and Card Club in Sidney.  Jerry enjoyed visiting Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds, and above all loved his family and grandchildren. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 12:00 PM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with Rev. James Oates officiating.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.  Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S.
