Jean Buroker

JEAN A. BUROKER, 95, of Carrollton, GA. formerly of Sidney, passed away on March 22, 2018 at The Oaks Assisted Living. She was born on September 5, 1922 in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of the late Guy and Alma (McDaniel) Black. She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Joseph N Buroker who passed Feb. 1, 2018.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Tony Buroker and his wife Kim, of Carrollton, GA and Gary Buroker of Indian Lake, OH and daughter-in-law Joyce Buroker of Demopolis, AL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.  Her eldest son Ronald Buroker preceded her in death.

One of ten children, she is preceded in death by Curt, Vernon, Earl, Jim, Dick, Eva, Becky, Sherlene and survived by one brother, Bill Black of Mechanicsburg, OH.

Mrs. Buroker graduated from Cable High School in 1940. She was a good athlete who loved playing basketball, softball and golf. She enjoyed fishing and both round and square dancing. She also loved horses as she rode in the Kiser Lake Square Dance on Horseback Group. Jean was considered a tomboy by her family.

Jean was a hard worker as most country girls were in her time. She worked outside the home during her active years at W.B. Marvin in Urbana, Ledex Corporation in Vandalia and later on she volunteered at Wilson Hospital.

Jean was a member of the Sidney First United Methodist Church in Sidney for thirty years. She also was a member of the Senior Center of Sidney-Shelby County and Eastern Star. Jean was a very loving person and it was evident by her many friends. She will be well remembered by her friends and family and all who made her acquaintance.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney, with Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10 AM until hour of service.
