JAMES A HUGHES, 86, of Sidney passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 8:20 AM at The Pavilion Rehab and Skilled Care Center in Sidney. He was born on October 19, 1931 in Smithtown, Kentucky, the son of the late Jasper and Nina (Keith) Hughes. On December 25, 1965, James married the former Rose Davis, who preceded him death June 7, 2005.
He is survived by eight children, Leon (Vickie) Hughes, Audrey (James) Wolaver both of Sidney, Lisa (Mark) Kouse of Troy, Terry (Billie) Hughes of Urbana, Jeff (Melissa) Hughes of Wapakoneta and Bradley (Kimberly) Hughes of Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Hughes of Sidney and two dogs, Cooper and Diesel. James was preceded in death by four sons, Jerry, Faron, Darrell and Dennis, two grandchildren, four brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Hughes retired from Baumfolder after 38 years as an Electrician. James also worked at Honda of America as a security guard for 8 years. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard of Bellefontaine. He loved to read his bible, play his steel guitar and was always tinkering on things. James enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. He was a member of the Bell Tones gospel quartet.
James was a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church of God in which Funeral Services will be held Monday June 18, 2018 at 11 AM at the church with Pastor Rodney Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco, Ohio. Friends may call Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 1 PM-3 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney.
