GARY LEE SPICER, age 57 of Anna, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2:42 AM at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born on July 16, 1961 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Marilyn (Elsass) Spicer of Sidney and the late Charles Spicer Jr.
On August 20, 1988 Gary married Marian Seger who survives along with their three children, Jill Spicer, Ryan (fiancé' Kara Short) Spicer, and Claire Spicer all of Anna, siblings, Tom (Tammy) Spicer of Jackson Center, and Patty (Larry) Yinger of Sidney, in-laws, Joe (Diane) Seger, Ken (Janice) Seger, Tom Seger, and Dan (Yvonne) Seger all of Ft. Loramie, Ed (Jody) Seger of Anna, Therese (Steve) Homan of Chickasaw, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by in-laws, Edward and Charlene Seger.
Mr. Spicer was a 1979 graduate of Sidney High School and the Upper Valley JVS, and a 2005 graduate of Edison State Community College. He worked as a CNC Programmer for DRT Power Systems, and the former Sidney Tool & Die. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.
Gary enjoyed playing music, especially his banjo, boating, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 W. Water St, Sidney, with Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in McCartyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, and on Friday from 9 AM until the hour of service at the church.
Memorials may be made in Gary's memory to the Anna Education Foundation, and Community Foundation of Shelby County for the Sidney High School Alumni Scholarship Fund. Condolences may be expressed to the Spicer family at the funeral home's website, www.cromesfh.com
