Gary Edward Egbert

GARY EDWARD EGBERT, 71, of Anna, passed away at 11:10 AM Monday, June 18, 2018 at Upper Valley Medical Center.  He was born on September 22, 1946 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Harold and Doris (Billing) Egbert.  On September 12, 1967 he married the former Gloria Rae Boyer, who preceded him in death on January 14, 2015. 

Gary is survived by his daughter, Gay Sutherland; grandson, Devyn Sutherland; sister, Deborah Holobaugh; sister-in-law, Jo Egbert; and several beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Ann and brother, Ronald Egbert. 

Mr. Egbert was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.  Gary was a long-time member of the Anna United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Sidney VFW, American Legion Post 217, and a past member of the Anna Fire Department and Anna Rescue Squad.  Gary worked as a mechanic for Sidney Truck and later as a heavy equipment operator for Miller Bros.  He most recently worked for Wells Bros. as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.  In his free time he enjoyed fishing and riding his scooter.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandson, Devyn. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Pastor Brian Nelson officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of service.  A Graveside Service with military honors performed by the Sidney American Legion Post 217 will be held at Pearl Cemetery on Monday, June 25th at 10:00 AM.  Memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Hospice or Veterans Honor Flight in Gary's memory.  Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Egbert family at our website, www.cromesfh.com
