Francis M. Copeland

FRANCIS M. COPELAND, 85, of Sidney, passed away at 8:37 PM Monday, December 18, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on May 2, 1932 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Lloyd and Isabella (Meyer) Copeland.  On August 5, 1952 he married Lillian J. Locker, who preceded him in death on October 20, 1998.

Francis is survived by three children, Susan (Jim) Hull of Sidney, Kevin Copeland of Troy, and Mark (Melissa) Copeland of Sidney; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Copeland of Sidney; six grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Hull, Trisha (David) Elliott, Brian (Katie) Copeland, Allen Copeland and Melinda Copeland; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Merida (Joe) Walters of Georgetown, KY.  He was preceded in death by son, Francis Marion Copeland, Jr.; and two grandsons, Brandon and Andrew Scott Copeland.

Mr. Copeland was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., serving during the Korean War.  He was a member and past commander of the Sidney American Legion Post 217.  He was also a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge.  Francis was retired from Stolle Corp. where he worked as a precision tool and die maker for 30 years.  Prior to that, he worked for Monarch Machine Tool for 20 years as a machinist.  Francis enjoyed traveling with his wife while she was living.  He also enjoyed watching Bengals football and nature watching from his back porch swing. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Pastor Alan Leach officiating.  Burial with Military Honors provided by the Sidney American Legion will be at Graceland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association in Francis' memory.  Condolences may be expressed to the Copeland family at the funeral home's website, www.cromesfh.com
