Dorothy "Dort" Elizabeth (Eilerman) Schmidt

DOROTHY "DORT" ELIZABETH SCHMIDT, age 91 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 9:45 AM at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. She was born on June 20, 1927 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio, the daughter of the late Louis and Lauretta (Plieman) Eilerman.

In 1948 Dort married Richard Schmidt who survives along with three children, Beverly (Tom) Simon, Doug Schmidt, and John (Amy) Schmidt all of Sidney, sister, Mary Lou Frantz, sisters-in-law, Jeanette Eilerman and Audrey Zimpfer, grandchildren, Amanda, Allyson, Taylor and Ryan, great-grandchildren, Alex, Payton, Kentleigh, Brantleigh, Avery and Brayden, great-great-grandchild, Harper, step-granddaughter, Sandy (Dave) Tucker, and several step-great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence, Robert and Albin Eilerman, and sisters, Esther Perin and Norma Eilerman.

Dort was a homemaker, and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She served as a Lay Minister for the church, as well as Wilson Memorial Hospital, and was also a member of the Alter Society. She enjoyed baking and loved spending time with her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Peter Langenkamp officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9 to 10:15 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney.
