Catherine Irene (Hughes) Fletcher

CATHERINE IRENE FLETCHER, 69, of Sidney passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at 1:30 AM at her residence. She was born on March 22, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel (Morris) Hughes. On January 7, 1966, Catherine married her high school sweetheart Gary Fletcher, who survives. They would have celebrated 52 Years of Marriage.

She is survived by four children, Tracy (Doug) Goins, Monica (Allan) Egbert, Betsy (Sean) O'Leary all of Sidney and Gary "Le" Fletcher of Coconut Creek, FL; nine grandchildren, Alexandria (Cameron) Eisenhardt, Matthew Egbert, Cory (Carla) Bennion, Brandon Bennion, Trevor (Steffany) Goins, Bailey Goins (Zachary Austin), Blaine O'Leary, Hunter O'Leary and Eric Fridley; five great-grandchildren; two siblings, Mona Fridley  and Clarence "Bud" Hughes both of Sidney ; several nieces and nephews.  Catherine was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffrey S. Hughes.

Catherine attended Sidney High School until her senior year and then graduated in 1966 from Houston High School. She was a realtor for 37 years retiring from Emerson Wagner Realty in 2014. Catherine enjoyed playing Bingo, going to garage sales and auctions. Mostly though, she enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. This included having Wednesday Lunches with her 60's girls. Her home was always the place to be in which she welcomed everyone. In the summer, she would raise her window to hear her grandchildren and now great-grandchildren playing outside. Many times taking them popsicles, in which they all liked. Oh how she loved them babies! She had an amazingly close bond with her sister Mona, whom she called her labor less child and first born. Catherine bravely fought with such dignity and strength a 5 year battle with cancer. She instilled in each of us a passion to care for each other and to continue her legacy. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 10 AM at Cromes - Edwards Funeral Home Inc. 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with Pastor Brent Driver officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4 PM-7 PM at Cromes - Edwards Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Catherine's honor to SCARF, The Historical Society, American Cancer Society or Tri-County Home Health and Hospice.
