DONALD CRAIG “DON” FRANCIS, 80, of Sidney passed away at 2:40 P.M. Monday, April 15, 2024 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1944 in Floyd County, Kentucky, the son of the late EL and Goldie (Ratliff) Francis.
On October 20, 1963 he married the former Crystal Hensley, who survives along with three children, Craig (Tracey) Francis of Sidney, Paul (Georgeanna) Francis of Kenton, OH, and Jeff (Jenny) Francis of Elizabeth, IN; grandchildren, Ashley (Ken) Miller, Amanda (Xavier) Gross, Audrey (Jason) Emerich, Hillary Williams, Lauren, Mason, Logan, Aaron, and Emma Francis; step-grandchildren, Brittney (Kyle) Armstrong, Jacob Ferguson, and Timothy Josiah Baker; nine great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat (Charlene) Francis, Ann Hemmer, Linda (Rick) Kirkpatrick, Susan (Fred) Vagedes, and Sally (Jim) Page; and sisters-in-law, Jean Cecil, Phyllis Epling, and Ruby Hensley. He was preceded in death by grandson, Andrew Francis; siblings, Mary Gullett, James Francis, Edgel Francis, Luther Francis; great-grandchild, Roselina Goodlin; step-great-grandchild, Rhylan Ferguson; and siblings-in-law, Roger Hensley, Clifford Hensley, and Janice Cox.
Don was a graduate of Riverside High School in DeGraff, class of 1962. He was retired from Sears Roebuck. Don enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending his evenings in the gym or outside at a ball field cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their various sports. Any reason was a good reason to spend time with anyone in his family, especially if it was to help them or fix something. They were his greatest joy.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11 A.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. James Oates officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice in Don’s memory.
