CHARLES "CHUCK" WILLIAM MOORE, 82, of 9408 St. Rt. 682, Athens, formerly of Sidney, OH, passed away at 5:00 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on June 15, 1930 in Richwood, Ohio, the son of the late Olen and Lena (Showalter) Moore.
On August 5, 1962 he was married to Eva Cox who survives, along with their six daughters; Sherry Smith and husband J.T. of Hubert, NC, Susan Baxter of The Plains, OH, Connie Dingus and husband Harry of Harpster, OH, Pam McBride of Orange, CA, Ruth Rutherford and husband Rick of Lancaster, OH, and Faye Walker of Lima, OH, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, one sister, Ann Erwin of Tucson, AZ, and one brother, Larry Moore of Richwood, OH. Chuck was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Walker, and one brother, Gene Moore.
Mr. Moore was a shoe repairman for more than 50 years and the owner of Moore's Shoe Repair in Athens. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Athens, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He also aided the church during the construction of its addition by offering his abilities as a contractor and electrician. Chuck's church and church family were very dear to him. He and Eva were known to enjoy craftwork together. Most of all, he simply enjoyed the time that he spent with his family. He was thankful for the life experiences he had been blessed with, and above all his family. Chuck had a giving spirit, and was always willing to put others before himself. He will be forever remembered for his kindheartedness.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, OH with Rev. Christopher L. Page officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1 PM until the hour of service. Eva, so sorry to hear of the passing of Charles, you were luckly to have him and the life you two had together, a very nice couple. When ever I think of shoes I think of the two of you. And of course we enjoyed dancing with the two of you for several years, take care and if ever anything I can do let me know, I live in Columbus now. I do remember Pam from being with u, take care and keep the memories.

Chuck was a wonderful gentleman and I enjoyed visiting when ever I brought in shoes for repair during the 33 years I have lived in Athens

Eva,
Im sorry i could not be by your side today we decided it would better for me to stay home with your great grand babies.Im sorry about Chucks passing but Im glad he got to spend time with the little ones and get to know them before he left.I hope that Brian and I have and long,loving and close relationship like you two have.Chuck was such a great man and loved his family dearly Im proud to be apart of the family.

To Mrs. Moore and the Moore family. Since the mid 1970s we have been grateful for the service and conversations we had with you in your shop. Mr. Moore's death is a great loss to the entire community. We send our sympathy and spiritual support, while we wish we could have Mr. Moore stay with us a few more years.
