WILLIAM J. "Bill" TAKACS, 77, 13740 Lochard Rd., Anna, OH, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2012, as the result of an auto accident, in Shelby County. He was born on November 23, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of he late William and Mary (Botsko) Takacs. Bill married Carolyn (Milligan) Takacs who preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 2000.
He is survived by one daughter Mrs Kurt (Troy Ann) Freytag of Anna, OH, and one son, Nick Takacs and his wife Diana of Johnson City, TN. Two Grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Freytag. One sister, Alice Wiklinski and husband Bob of Indiana.
One Brother, James Takacs, preceded him in death.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1954 to 1956. He graduated from Indiana State University. For about 35 years, he taught at different schools in the Sidney City School System. While teaching he also coached at many different levels of football, which he loved.
Bill was very active in his church, working with food pantry at St. James Episcopal Church where he was a member in Piqua.
He also loved raising and working with a variety of animals on his mini farm.
One of his favorite things was spending time with his grandchildren, and attending all their activities.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church in Piqua with Rev. Jeffrey Bessler officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call Monday, 5-8 P.M. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.
