I'm so sorry to hear about Shirley. She was a wonderful woman. It was so great growing up with her and Dick and the kids as neighbors. Being so far away I didn't get to see her much since I left home but when I did get to see her It always reminded me what a great person she was. I know you all miss her. I will too. Rich

Shirley first came into my life in 1981 when she helped me through one of the darkest moments of my life even while she was dealing with her daughter's serious illness. She was so caring and giving and so kind. She was always willing to help or to make you one her famous angel food cakes or Apple dumplings.
I hope she's now at peace. My condolences to all her family.

I was an exchange student at Leman 89-91. I was not surprised to read she was an excellent baker... I stll miss the cake from the cafeteria. She had a sweetness that showed in her face. All my love and prayers for her and her family

Mike, Beth, and family I am so sorry for the passing of your mother. I know how much she meant to everyone. We enjoyed her homemade sweets when you lived in Bloomfield! She sure was always giving. Love and prayers.

I was a student at Lehman from 1986-1990 and I absolutely loved Shirley. I did service learning in the cafeteria as well and she and Kate and Esther totally took me under their wing from day one. I also liked to bake and they were so sweet to show me things and slip the occasional extra sunshine bar my way. She was so cheerful and brightened every day. I have had a rather extensive career in retail and was lucky enough to see and help her on several occasions after graduation and we always had such fond reminisces of those days. I am sure your family is blessed with a multitude of wonderful recollections of her as well and I hope those will be of comfort to you at this time. I assure you she will be sadly missed by many people including myself.
