RUSSELL "Ozzie" DAVIS, 92, of Sidney passed away at 12:20 PM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. He was born on May 1, 1925 in Parkers Lake, Kentucky, the son of the late James and Sophia (Keith) Davis. On April 11, 1944 he married Virginia Henderson, who preceded him in death on February 2, 2014.
Russell is survived by two daughters, Linda (John) Knouff and Sheila (Joe) Strunk, both of Sidney and one son, Russell (Cindy) Davis Jackson Center; six grandchildren, Joe Strunk, Amanda Strunk, Chad (Vanessa) Davis, Tony Davis, Howie Kerenstew and Keith Kerenstew; twelve great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Hazel Jones of Sidney and Shirley Davis of Burnside, KY. He was preceded in death by son, Howard Davis, grandson, Brent Knouff, three brothers and seven sisters.
Mr. Davis was a career electrician, retiring from Stolle Corporation in Sidney after more than 47 years of service. He had also worked at Monarch, Copeland and Lima Baldwin Hamilton. In his earlier years he worked as a coal miner in Stearns, Kentucky and a gold miner and forestry worker in Pocatello, Idaho during his tour with the Civilian Conservation Corp. Russell enjoyed bowling, cars and playing cards with family and friends. He will be dearly missed but not forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Rev. Jane Madden officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial at Cedar Point Cemetery will be held at a later date.
