NORMAN A. GAIER, 73, of Ft. Loramie, passed away at 4:24 AM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Versailles Health Care Center. He was born on September 27, 1944 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Miller) Gaier.
On May 21, 1976 Norman married Wanda Frasure and she survives along with 3 children; Tina (Mat) VanHorn of Sidney, Donna (Steve) Wright of Covington and David (fiancé Jayme Hathaway) Gaier of Celina, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers; Denny (Esther) Gaier, Damen (Rosalee) Gaier and John (Eileen) Gaier. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bob and Fred Gaier.
Mr. Gaier worked as a Union Carpenter. Norman served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 - 1971 and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion in Ft. Loramie. Norman enjoyed animals and working around his farm. He also enjoyed fishing, going to auctions and steam engine shows. He followed NASCAR and other stock car racing. Norman loved his family and traveling with them. He got great joy out of telling jokes and stories.
Norman was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 16, 2018 with Father Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 1 - 3 PM at Cromes - Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney.
