Welcome to the memorial page for

Larry Joe Ferguson

March 13, 2013

On March 13, 2013 at 4:20A, my best friend and husband, Larry Joe Ferguson, known to many as Peanut, age 64, released his loving hand from mine as he reached out and took the hand of Jesus. It's heartbreaking for those he left behind, but what a glorious day for him.  He has fought a brave, courageous battle against kidney cancer for 5 years, and has finally been set free.  Larry was the kindest, most gentle, loving man, who loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart.  He is now walking on those golden streets of heaven where he will no longer experience pain, suffering, tears or chemo treatments.

Larry was born on August 1, 1948 to Frank and Louann (Mouk) Ferguson, who preceded him in death.  Larry is survived by his loving wife, Margie J Ferguson, and was a wonderful father to 9 children who also survive: Rachel Bowser, Larry J Ferguson I, Christina VanHoose, April Winemiller, Theresa Kleinhans, Sonya Bolin, Tracey J Brown, and Thomas and Travis VanVoorhis.  He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He will be sadly missed by so many.

Larry is a 1966 graduate of Sidney High School, and served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged on March 5, 1969.  He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.

He loved sports, and was a big Ohio State fan.  He coached little league ball, and was actively involved in sports of all kinds in his younger days.  In his later years he enjoyed dining out, attending his grandchildren's sports events, spending time with family, and going on mini-vacations with his wife and family. One of his favorite places was Paducah, KY, where we became engaged to be married.   Larry was a dedicated employee at Leroi Dresser in Sidney, OH for 22 years.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with Larry's dear friend, John Lyke officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Larry Joe Ferguson. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Ferguson family at our website, www.cromesfh.com
