John Dovel

JOHN W. DOVEL, 84, of Sidney, passed away at 7:25 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 16, 1933 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of the late Raymond and Reah (Hance) Dovel.

On December 17, 1955 he married the former Violet Watkins and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Tina (Chris) Platfoot of Sidney and Scott (Leigh) Dovel of Cincinnati, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by 1 son, Jeffrey Dovel and 1 sister, Mary Jane Dovel.

Mr. Dovel retired from Alcoa after 35 years where he worked in the engineering department. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955. John was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, antiques and going to auctions with Violet. John loved his family and made many precious memories with them and as Violet says, "was the best husband in the world."

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney with Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
