John Ball, Jr.

JOHN BALL, JR., 92, of Sidney, passed through Heaven's gates and into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, July 15, 2017. 

John was born August 11, 1924 to the late John Ball, Sr. and Stella Ball in Worley, Kentucky.  John talked often of his memories of life in their hillside home at the mining community in Worley.

John was preceded in death by five siblings, his mother and father-in-law, and nine brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. 

On July 6, 1947 John married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Ruth Helmandollar, having recently observed 70 years of marriage.  She survives, as do many nieces and nephews. 

John was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He served on the USS England and was awarded may medals of honor, including the Purple Heart.  John was an ordained minister and a carpenter by trade, having worked at the Quincy Lumber Company and Anna Lumber. 

Per John's wishes, a Private Graveside Service will be held at Cedar Point Cemetery.  Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S.
