James Eugene Counts

JAMES EUGENE COUNTS, 82, of Botkins passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 5:05 PM at Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late Victor and Lucille (Steinle) Counts. On December 1, 1957, James married the former Barbara Baseore, who survives.

He is survived by six children, Rick Counts, Randy (Claire) Counts, Lori Counts all of Botkins, Roger (David) Counts of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lisa (Todd) Schubert of Wapakoneta and Rodney (Laura) Counts of Russia; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dan Counts of Pell City, Alabama, Frank Counts of Sidney, Jerry Counts of Spencerville, Louise Haynes of Georgia and Andy Counts of Fort Loramie. James was preceded in death by five family members, Elsie, Bob, Ed, Waneta and Elizabeth.

Mr. Counts retired from Norcold after many years. James was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He enjoyed being outdoors especially fishing, gardening and spending his time with his grandkids. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins for over 40 years.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church Friday July 14, 2017 at noon with Pastor Charla Grieves officiating. Burial will follow at Loramie Valley Cemetery in Botkins, Ohio. The family requests friends to visit from 10 AM up until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has request all memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins.
