Evalyn K (Stengel) Apple

EVALYN K. APPLE, age 99, of Sidney passed away June 30, 2017, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, 3003 W. Cisco Road, where she was a resident of that facility for the past 3 years. She was born November 27, 1917, in Maplewood, Shelby County, the daughter of the late Walter (Cap) and Grace (Fogt) Stengel. On January 9, 1936, she married Clarence Apple, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1984.

She is survived by one son, Steve (Janine) Apple of Sidney; one sister, Joy Baker of Sidney; one grandchild, Kelly (Clem) Holthaus of Ellicott City, Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Nic (Carmen), Derek, and John Holthaus, and numerous nieces and nephews. Evalyn was preceded in death by daughter, Connie and son-in-law, John Maurer; grandchild, Mindy Maurer; brother-in-law, Bill Baker; brother, Ralph and sister-in-law Shirley Stengel; brother Howard (Chris) Stengel, and a special friend Hanson (Eppie) Epperson.

Evalyn was a homemaker, member of the Sidney-Shelby County Senior Center, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed going to their Indian Lake cottage with family, traveling, reading, warm weather, and residing in Florida for 7 years.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 12 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with the Rev. Jon Schriber officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM up until the time of the service. Condolences may be expressed at the website www.cromesfh.com
