Dale Renner

DONALD "DALE" RENNER, 84, of Sidney, passed away into the warm embrace of our Heavenly Father and loving "Mom and Pop" at 2:45 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Ohio Living Dorothy.

Dad was born on April 5, 1933 in Shelby County, Ohio, the first born child of the late Donald Benjamin and Irma Louise (Fogt) Renner. He was a 1951 graduate of Sidney High School. He grew up working alongside his Pop on the family farm. Dad married mom, Charlotte Fay Watkins, on May 10, 1954 in Pasco and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 - 1955 in Japan.

Dale was dad to 4 children; John (Joni) Renner of Sidney, Jim (Mary) Renner of Sidney, Julie (Brent) Vagedes of Piqua and Joe (Brittany) Renner of Sidney. He was grandpa to 13 grandchildren; Monica (Tim) Renner, Stacey (John) Curtis, Lisa Craig, Eric Renner, Derek (Marissa) Vagedes, Dustin (Aurora) Vagedes, Dale (Lauren) Vagedes, Dane (Bekah) Vagedes, Tyler Renner, Josh Renner, Tony Williams, Frank Williams and Sophia Williams. Dale was a great-grandfather to 12 beautiful children. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte and his loving sister, Carol Ann (Roy) Morelock of Sidney.

Dad worked briefly at Shelby Manufacturing before finding his dream job as a postal carrier with the City of Sidney. Not many dads come home from work whistling and singing, but ours did. He loved his job and patrons dearly. Even after retiring in 1993, he continued to go to work in his heart and in his mind. To support his family, dad also worked evenings at A & P and then later at Kroger in Sidney all this while maintaining the family farm. The Good Lord put sweat in a man's body so he can work hard and earn an honest living. That was Dad.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:15 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Cedar Point Cemetery with Chaplain Ed Ellis officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 AM until 11:45 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney. Dad was a member of Temperance Lodge No. 73 and a Masonic Service will be held at 11:45 AM.
