Carl E. Bell

CARL E. BELL, age 91of Sidney, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 9:45 AM at Otterbein Cridersville. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Pemberton, Ohio, the son of the late Elza V. and Nellie (Allebach) Bell. On April 10, 1955 he married Isabelle F. Short who preceded him in death March 27, 2015.

Carl is survived by son, Thomas E. (June) Bell of Lima, daughter, Brenda K. (Thomas) Kolkman of Richland, MI, and two grandsons, Brian E. (Sarah) Bell of Lewis Center, and Evan Bell of Lima. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Harelson and Frances Sutton, and one brother, Maurice Bell.

Mr. Bell was a 1944 graduate of Perry High School in Pemberton and served his country as a US Army WWII veteran. He worked as a farmer, as well as a carpenter for Frantz Brothers, then B.G. Danis of Dayton before retiring in 1986. After retirement, he continued to farm for an additional 10 years.

Carl enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, hunting, yard work, gardening and reading. He was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 12 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, with Rev. Jane Madden officiating. Burial with Military honors by the US Army and Sidney American Legion Post 217 will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of service.
