What is now Cromes Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. was founded by our Grandfather, the late Ralph V. Cromes. He opened the family business in January of 1939 with his partner, Ralph Wiessinger, who would later leave the business. At that time, the funeral home was named Cromes-Wiessinger Funeral Home. Here is the full page Grand Opening ad they ran in the Sidney Daily News on January 12, 1939.

In January 1969, Norris' son, Gary, joined the firm full time. In January of the following year (1970), Lloyd's son, Ralph, joined the family business.
More than 70 years after Ralph V. Cromes opened the family business, his two Grandsons, Gary and Ralph are the third generation family owners. They operate the business today along with three full time staff members, Bill Stamm, Aaron Edwards, and Erik Edwards.
The recent addition of Sidney's first on-site crematory has brought about another name change. We are now Cromes Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
Ralph V. Cromes
In 1949, Ralph V. Cromes' sons, Lloyd and Norris (our Fathers), joined him in the family business. At this time the name was changed to Cromes & Sons Funeral Home.
In 1975, the business went through another name change to Cromes Funeral Home, Inc. when we incorporated.
